The bulk of the book consists of gossipy portraits of a rather diverse group of men that ranges from the famous to the relatively obscure: Nikola Tesla, Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, Oliver Heaviside (an inventor), Samuel Johnson, Richard Kirwan (a scientist).
